OP-BLUE FREEDOM
Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju and former India football captain Baichung Bhutia flagged off the Delhi leg of Op-Blue Freedom.
- Op-Blue Freedom is a nation-wide adaptive scuba diving programme for people with disabilities as well as the able-bodied.
- This is an initiative in which a group of armed forces veterans train sports enthusiasts in survival training and self-defence.
Aim
The program aims to train adventure enthusiasts in valuable special forces skills like survival techniques, emergency first response skills, unarmed combat, endurance and fitness, in combination with the adventure activity one chooses to pursue – mountaineering, trekking, scuba diving, sky diving, etc.
In a first-of-its-kind initiative in Asia, eight armed forces veterans, have initiated a high-end adventure sports survival training and self-defence mission at a pan India level titled ‘Op-Blue Freedom as a part of their parent project – Special Forces Adventures (SFA).
