Vigyanika – International Science Literature Festival

WHAT

Vigyanika-International Science Literature Festival, being organised (5-8 November) as part of the 5th India International Science Festival (IISF) 2019 at Kolkata.

IISF 2019 is an annual event organised jointly by the Ministry of Science & Technology and Earth Sciences and Vijnana Bharati (Vibha).

 

 

VIGYANIKA

• The festival is being coordinated by the CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR), Vigyan Prasar and Vigyan Bharati.
• Children, teachers, innovators, scientists, academicians, craftsmen and entrepreneurs are invited to this grand India International Science Festival.
• Apart from panel discussions, invited talks, and paper presentations on themes related to science communication, public engagement with science, and science policy for science communication Vigyanika will also feature innovative formats of science communication such as drama, poetry, and magic.

 

THEME

To commemorate the essence of vedic and modern science, in IISF 2019 cultural activities like plays, musical yoga, nukkad natak, dance and recital performances will be showcased based on the theme “ancient to modern”.

 

SIGNIFICANCE

The Festival will provide a platform to increase awareness of the value of science, technology and innovation to society and also inspire the next generation of researchers.

 

AIM

The Festival also aims to involve and include a wide section of the society to improve their scientific understanding, temperament and appreciation for various developments in science and technology and also reverence for Indian S&T achievements.

 

BACKGROUND

Started in 2015, IISF envisions promoting science and technology by showing public how STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) provides us the solutions to improve our lives.
