Annual Piracy Report
- Since 2012, the Gulf of Guinea has emerged as one of the most pirate-infested waters in the world.
- Gulf of Guinea (West Africa) became the world’s most pirate-infested sea in 2018, according to International Maritime Bureau.
- The International Maritime Bureau reports 72 attacks last year on vessels at sea between Ivory Coast and Cameroon.
- Elsewhere piracy is in decline.

- The ICC-International Maritime Bureau (IMB) is a specialized division of the International Chamber Of Commerce (ICC).
- The IMB is a non-profit making organization.
- It was established in 1981.
- It acts as a focal point in the fight against all types of maritime crime and malpractice.
- The IMB has an MOU with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and has observer status with Interpol (ICPO).
- Its main task is to protect the integrity of international trade by seeking out malpractice and fraud.
