BAFTA: British Academy Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards Scotland.

  • The 2019 British Academy Scotland Awards ceremony took place recently.
  • A BBC documentary on “Real Kashmir Football Club” won in the ‘Single Documentary’ category at the BAFTA Film Awards Scotland. It documented the journey of former Rangers ace David Robertson as the head coach of Real Kashmir FC and its success story in the I-League 2nd division in 2017-18.

 

Real Kashmir Football club

  • Real Kashmir Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Srinagar.
  • The club has competed as a member of I-League under license from the All India Football Federation (AIFF). Jammu and Kashmir, Real Kashmir is the first team from Kashmir to compete in I-League, the first division of football in India. The club participated in their first national competition in September 2016 when they played in the 2016 Durand Cup.
  • Real Kashmir has received international acclaim following their participation in a BBC documentary called “Real Kashmir FC” that followed the team and their Scottish manager, David Robertson.

 

BAFTA Scotland

  • Since 1986, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts has continued to specifically champion the film, television and video game industries in Scotland by celebrating excellence, championing new Scottish talent and reaching out to the public.
  • BAFTA is an independent charity that supports, develops and promotes the art forms of the moving image (film, television and games) in the United Kingdom.
  • BAFTA started out as the British Film Academy, was founded in 1947 by a group of directors and other major figures of the British film industry. The first Film Awards ceremony took place in May 1949.
  • In 1976, Queen Elizabeth, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and The Earl Mountbatten of Burma officially opened the organisation’s headquarters at 195 Piccadilly, London, and in March the society became the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
