National agriculture market (e-NAM) scheme

WHAT
Crores of funds released to the states/UTs under the e-NAM scheme from 2015-16 to 2018-19.
NATIONAL AGRICULTURE MARKET (e-NAM)
It is a pan-India electronic trading portal which networks the existing Agricultural produce market committee (APMC) mandis to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.
Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is the lead agency for implementing eNAM under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.
VISION
- To promote uniformity in agriculture marketing by streamlining of procedures across the integrated markets.
- Removing information asymmetry between buyers and sellers and promoting real-time price discovery based on actual demand and supply.
MISSION
Integration of APMCs across the country through a common online market platform to facilitate pan-India trade in agriculture commodities, providing better price discovery through a transparent auction process based on the quality of products along with timely online payment.
FACILITIES AVAILABLE TO FARMERS AT e-MANDIS FOR USING e-NAM
(i) Farmers can access the prevailing commodity prices information on e-NAM mobile app even without going to the mandi.
(ii) The facility of pre-registration of lot by farmers for their produce available through mobile app to facilitate quick gate entry of the lot during peak season.
(iii) Facility of quality testing of the produce of the farmers before bidding.
(iv) Farmers may view progress of online bid value of their produce through mobile.
(v) The details of final bid rate of commodity of farmer are received through SMS by farmers.
(vi) Online payment gateway is available for transfer of bid value directly to bank accounts of farmers.
IMPLEMENTING AGENCY
- Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is the lead promoter of NAM.
- SFAC is a registered society of the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC&FW) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare.
