National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) scheme

WHAT

More than 1.64 crore farmers have registered on the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) platform till 30th June 2019.

NATIONAL AGRICULTURE MARKET (e-NAM) SCHEME

National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) is envisaged as a pan-India electronic trading platform.
Launched on 14th April 2016.
The portal is networked with the existing APMC mandis (Agricultural Produce Market Committee) to create a unified national market for agricultural commodities.

OBJECTIVE

Creating an online transparent competitive price discovery system to facilitate farmers with remunerative prices for their produce.

IMPLEMENTING AGENCY

Small Farmers Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC) is the lead agency for implementing eNAM under the aegis of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India.

VISION

To promote uniformity in agriculture marketing
Removing information asymmetry between buyers and sellers
Promoting real time price discovery based on actual demand and supply

MISSION

Integration of APMCs across the country through a common online market platform.
It will facilitate pan-India trade in agriculture commodities, providing better price discovery through a transparent auction process based on the quality of produce along with timely online payment.

OTHER AGRICULTURE BASED TRADING PORTALS IN THE COUNTRY

(i) National Agriculture Market is an online trading portal which was launched by the Government of India on 14th April 2016.

(ii) Rajasthan Integrate Mandi Management System was launched on 2nd February 2016 by the Department of Agricultural Marketing, Rajasthan.

(iii) Karnataka has its own electronic platform named “Unified Market Platform (UMP)”. UMP which started it’s operation from February 2014.

(iv) Maharashtra has implemented a Computerized Auction System (CAS) in APMCs in the State since 2014.
