WHAT
There have been estimated savings/benefits of Rs. 59,599 crore for the Government up to March 2019.
- ‘PAHAL’ is the scheme of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
PRATYAKSH HANSTANTRIT LABH (PAHAL)
- Under the PAHAL scheme, beneficiaries buy LPG cylinders at market rate and subsequently received subsidy directly in their bank accounts.
- There are 1.86 crores non-subsidised LPG consumers, including 1.03 crore ‘Give it up’ consumers.
- The scheme was formally launched as Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme for the LPG subsidy in 2013.
- It was modified and christened as PaHal in November 2014.
- The scheme aims at eliminating duplication or bogus LPG connections and its diversion.
