Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation

WHAT

The “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation” for the year 2019 has been awarded Police personnel.

  • Total 96 awardee includes 15 from CBI, 11 from Maharashtra police, 10 from Uttar Pradesh police, 9 from Kerala police, 8 from Madhya Pradesh police, 6 from Delhi police and Karnataka Police and the remaining from the other States/UT and Central Investigating Agencies.
  • These include thirteen (13) women police officers.

 

OBJECTIVE

To promote high professional standards of investigation of crime and to recognize such excellence in an investigation by investigating officers.

 

BACKGROUND

  • This medal was constituted in 2018.
  • Last year, 101 police personnel received the award.

The Union Home Minister has instituted five Police Medals:

  1. Union Home Minister’s Special Operation Medal
  2. Police Antarik Suraksha Seva Padak
  3. Asadharan Aasuchana Kushalata Padak
  4. Utkrisht and Ati Utkrisht Seva Medals
  5. Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation

REWARDS

  • These medals promote professionalism and excellence in service and give recognition to security personnels.
  • These five are non-cash awards which will supplement and strengthen the existing award schemes in the State Police Forces and Central Police Organizations and Armed Forces.
