Poshan Pakhwada

Government will celebrate the first anniversary of POSHAN Abhiyaan on 8th March, 2019 by organising Poshan Pakhwada across the Country.

  • Poshan Pakhwada will be celebrated on lines of ‘Poshan Maah’ held in the month of September, 2018.
  • The Pakhwada will be launched on International Women’s Day, 8th March, 2019.
  • Poshan Pakhwada is also planned to organise workshop on Agri-Nutrition on 15th March 2019.

Key Activities:

  1. Poshan Melas
  2. Rally on nutrition at all level
  3. Prabhat Pheree
  4. Session on nutrition at schools
  5. Self help group meetings
  6. Anaemia camps
  7. Growth monitoring of children
  8. Home visits of newborn babies by ASHA/AWW
  9. Village Health
  10. Sanitation and Nutrition Day

Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW)-January, 2019

  • The All-India CPI-IW for January, 2019 is increased by 6 points.
  • Change in current index came from Housing group contributing.
  • Items responsible for the increase in index: Wheat, Arhar Dal, Fish Frsh, Goat Meat, Coconut, Lady’s Finger, Tomato, Flowers/Flower Garlands, etc.
  • Items putting downward pressure: Onion, Brinjal, Cabbage, Carrot, Cauliflower, Gourd, Peas, Potato, Cooking Gas, Electricity Charges, etc.
  • Nagpur reported the maximum increase of 21 points.

Launch of various development projects in KanyaKumari

  • Tejas Express between Madurai and Chennai. (Tejas Express is one of the most modern trains and is a great example of ‘Make in India’).
  • PM laid foundation stone for the restoration of rail connectivity between Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi, and the restoration of the Pamban bridge. (Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi rail line got damaged after the disaster of 1964).
  • PM Kisan Samman Nidhi distribution for over 1.1 crore farmers.
