Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-dhan (PM-SYM) Yojana

(Prime Minister’s Office)

  • Launched PM-SYM Yojana at Vastral in Gujarat.
  • The scheme will assure a monthly pension of Rs.3000 for the enrolled unorganized sector workers during their old age.
  • A contribution of equal amount as that of the beneficiary will be made by the Union Government.
  • Informal sector workers earning less than Rs.15000 per month can enroll as beneficiaries.
Other related schemes targeting workers of unorganised sector: Ayushman Bharat, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya Yojana, and Swacch Bharat.

The PM-SYM alongside the health inclusion gave under ‘Ayushman Bharat’ and life and handicap or disability inclusion gave under ‘Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana’ and ‘Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, will guarantee comprehensive social security for the unorganized workers at their old age.

Permanent Commission to Women

Permanent Commission to Women officers in the Armed Forces.

  • Indian Air Force: All Branches (including Fighter Pilots) are now open for women officers.
  • Indian Navy: All non sea going Branches/Cadre/Specialisation have been opened for induction of women via Short Service Commission.
  • Indian Army: Women’s are inducted in all the ten branches via Short Service Commission.

India-Oman bilateral security ties have continued to develop since the beginning of India-Oman Joint Military Cooperation meetings in 2006.

Third Bilateral joint exercise between India and Oman.

WHEN

Scheduled from 12 to 25 March 2019.

Jabel Al Akhdar Mountains in Oman.

LEARNINGS

  • Both armies enhance interoperability in counterterrorist operations in semi urban mountainous terrain.
  • Exchange and experience of tactics, weapon handling and firing.

Loan Agreement: India and World Bank

  • Signed by World Bank, Government of India and Government of Uttarakhand.
  • $96 Million Loan Agreement.
  • Provide additional funds to the state of Uttarakhand in its post-disaster recovery plan.
  • It will help in strengthen State’s capacity for Disaster Risk Management.
