WHAT

Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana achieves target of 8 crore LPG connections 7 months ahead of target date.

 

PRADHAN MANTRI UJJWALA YOJANA

• The scheme was launched on 1 May 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh, to distribute 50 million (5 crore) LPG connections to women of BPL families
• Many households are still deprived of LPG as cooking fuel and have to rely on firewood, coal, dung – cakes etc. as primary source of cooking.
• Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel – LPG.

 

Target beneficiaries

• All SC/STs households beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY) (Gramin)
• Antyoday Anna Yojana (AAY)
• Forest dwellers
• Most Backward Classes (MBC)
• Tea & Ex-Tea Garden Tribes
• People residing in Islands
• People residing in the river islands.
