Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘107th Indian Science Congress’, which is being held from January 3 to 7, 2020.
- The theme for the congress this year is ‘science and technology: rural development’.
- Venue: University of Agricultural Sciences (UASB), GKVK Campus, Bangalore, Karnataka.
Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA)
- The ISCA owes its origin to the foresight and initiative of two British Chemists, namely, Professor J. L. Simonsen and Professor P.S. MacMahon.
- ISCA is a premier scientific organisation of India with headquarters at Kolkata, West Bengal.
- The association started in the year 1914 in Kolkata and it meets annually in the first week of January.
- It has a membership of more than 30,000 scientists.
Objectives of ISCA
The Association was formed with the following objectives :
- To advance and promote the cause of science in India;
- To hold an annual congress at a suitable place in India;
- To publish such proceedings, journals, transactions and other publications as may be considered desirable;
- To secure and manage funds and endowments for the promotion of Science
