Appointments Committee of the Cabinet

WHAT

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri P.K. Sinha, as Officer on Special Duty in the office of the Prime Minister.

 

APPOINTMENT COMMITTEE OF THE CABINET

  • The ACC decides appointments to several top posts under the Government of India.
  • The committee is composed of the Prime Minister, who serve as its Chairman, and the Minister of Home Affairs.
  • The Establishment Officer’s Division (EO Division) processes all proposals for senior appointments that require approval of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet. These include Board level appointments in Public Sector Undertakings and appointments to the posts at the level of Joint Secretary.

 

CABINET COMMITTEES OF INDIA

The six committees of the Cabinet are:

  1. Appointments Committee of the Cabinet
  2. Cabinet Committee on Accommodation
  3. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs
  4. Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs
  5. Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs
  6. Cabinet Committee on Security
  7. Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development (Newly formed)
  8. Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth (Newly formed)

 

All Committees of Cabinet except Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs (CCPA) and Cabinet Committee on Accommodation (CCA) are chaired/headed by Prime Minister. CCPA and CCA are headed by Union Home Minister.
