DIBANG MULTIPURPOSE PROJECT
National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to develop India’s largest hydropower project.
- The project is located on river Dibang, in lower Dibang Valley District of Arunachal Pradesh.
- The project envisions the construction of a 278-meter high concrete dam and will be the highest dam in India once completed.
- The estimated completion period for the project is 9 years.
- The project shall generate 2880 MW (12x240MW) power to produce 11223 MU of energy in a 90 percent dependable year.
- On completion, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh will get 12% free power from the project.
- One percent free power will be given in the Local Area Development Fund (LADF).
- Dibang Multipurpose Project (Dibang MPP) is envisaged as a storage-based hydro-electric project with flood moderation as the key objective.
