Aishwarya Pissay became the first Indian to claim a world title in motorsports.

  • She is 23-year-old and from Bengaluru.
  • She won the FIM World Cup in the women’s category after the final round of the championship in Hungary.
  • The events were conducted by the International Motorcycling Federation, the governing body for motor racing in the world.

She started the Hungarian Baja with a seven-point lead and managed to maintain momentum through the race, finishing the race with a tally of 65 points, four more than Portugal’s Rita Vieira in the final overall standings for women.

 

FIM Bajas World Cup

  • The FIM Bajas World Cup is the premier championship of Baja-style rally raid racing, organized by the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) since 2012.
  • Along with the main world cup for 450cc, there are world cups for the following categories: Quads, Women, and Junior.
  • The FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship is the premier championship for the longer cross-country rallies.

 

Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India

The Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) was founded in 1971 and is a long-standing member of the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) and Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA), the world bodies for 2/3 and 4 wheeler motor sport respectively.

  • The FMSCI is the only national motorsport federation recognised by the Indian government for the promotion and control of motorsport in India and is affiliated to the Indian Olympic Association.
  • The FMSCI is affiliated to the Asian Motorcycle Union (UAM), the Continental Asian wing of the FIM.
