Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act, 1951
The Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial Act of 1951 was enacted by Parliament for the management of the National Memorial to remember those killed in the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre on April 13, 1919.
Why was the amendment made?
The Jalliawala Bagh massacre completed its 100th anniversary this year, it was necessary to build a Jallianwala Bagh National Memorial which would be a National Memorial in true sense by removing any party politics association with it.
Now, trustees will be replaced after every five years and relatives of the martyrs would also be included in the trust.
