QS World University Rankings for Asia 2020

 

QS ranking among the Asian higher educational institutes is one of the top global rankings of institutions of higher education.

  • India has 96 universities ranked, including 20 brand new entries in the QS World University Rankings.

Key Highlights

  • India does not yet have a university among the top 30. The country has 31 institutes among the top 250.
  • Indian Institute of Technology- Bombay leads nationally at overall 34th place, and it is followed by IIT- Delhi in the 43rd place and by IIT- Madras in the 50th position.
  • China represented 118 featured universities, including four in the top 10 this year.
  • The National University of Singapore is ranked Asia’s best for the second consecutive year. It is followed by Nanyang Technological University, which has risen from 3rd to 2nd; and the University of Hong Kong.
  • The contributory dataset of this ranking includes the world’s most extensive surveys of global academic and employer opinion regarding university quality.
  • In the employer reputation indicator, IIT-B ranked 21 regionally.
  • India dominates the staff with PhD indicator with seven institutions achieving the perfect 100 score and sharing the top rank, including IIT-M, IIT-Kgp, IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Bhubaneswar, IIT-Indore, IIT-Patna, and IIT-Ropar.
  • In the research indicators, India boasts five universities among the top 50 in the citations per paper metric, and six among the top 50 in the papers per faculty metric.
