News Flash
Rajasthan Government has started using satellite communication technology to enhance the learning outcome in educational institutions.
- The department of science & technology has identified 5,000 schools in the tribal areas and aspirational districts of Rajasthan, in which the students will be taught English and Science through Satcom technology.
- The institutions with the shortage of teachers will especially benefit from the geostationary satellite uplinking facilities.
- The students will get the services of subject experts and will be taught through Receive only Terminal (RoT) and Satellite Interactive Terminal (SIT).
- Satcom comprises two-way communication through which students in village schools can ask questions to subject experts based in Jaipur.
- Special gazettes will be established in each of the school which include a colour television, communication room, set-top box and a small devise under the seat of each student.
Aspirational Districts
- The Aspirational District Programme was launched in 2018 with an aim to quickly and effectively transform some of India’s most underdeveloped districts.
- The three core principles of the programme are – Convergence (of Central & State Schemes), Collaboration (among citizens and functionaries of Central & State Governments including district teams), and Competition among districts.
- Driven primarily by the States, this initiative focuses on the strengths of each district, and prioritizes the attainable outcomes for immediate improvement.
- The programme focusses on 5 main themes – Health & Nutrition, Education, Agriculture & Water Resources, Financial Inclusion & Skill Development, and Basic Infrastructure, which have direct bearing on the quality of life and economic productivity of citizens.
