A Centralised Technology Vertical (CTV) would be set up under the Central Bureau of Investigation to facilitate real-time information sharing with investigators across the country.
- The CTV would be functional by next year.

The CBI is building a state-of-the-art Centralised Technology Vertical (CTV) to combat cybercrimes.

- The Centralised Technology Vertical (CTV) helps in handling complex financial crimes, like 2G scam, coal block irregularities, Ponzi schemes and capital market scams.
- CTV would provide real-time support in investigation with access to data warehouses, equipped with big data analytics, data mining tools.
- It will help in getting real-time information for the benefit of interrogators.
Why this step becomes necessary?
- In recent times, it was noted that cybercriminals pose a serious threat, with 22,000 websites in India hacked in just the 10-month period between April 2017 and January 2018.
- In terms of magnitude, the crime overtook the hacking of the Bangladesh Central Bank, in which USD 81 million were stolen by hackers.
- Again in the case of the City Union Bank, which lost USD 2 million to hackers allegedly based in Turkey, China and Dubai.
