The fourth general assembly of the Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) was hosted by the Election Commission of India in Bengaluru.

On September 03, during the hosting of A-WEB, India takes over as the chair of A-WEB for 2019-21.

Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB)

Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) was established on 14 October 2013 in Song-do, South Korea.
A-WEB is the first global organization of election management bodies.
Its vision is to foster efficiency and effectiveness in conducting free, fair, transparent and participative elections worldwide.
Located in Sondgo, Incheon, Republic of Korea, the secretrait is composed of around 20 experts in election and related fields.
Under the slogan of ‘Democracy to Grow for All Worldwide,’ the A-WEB organizes the Election Management Capacity Building Program for election officials to strengthen the election management capacity.

Aims

To support the participants to study various electoral systems, discuss issues and challenges each EMB is facing and come up with solutions to the shared problems.
To establish a network of election officials around the world and encourage them to share their experiences and expertise.
T0 provide an opportunity to exchange good practices and learn an international standard of election management.

Important Information

Election Commission of India has been closely associated with A-WEB since 2011-12 and has been an executive board member.
At the last A-WEB General Assembly in Bucharest on August 31, 2017, Romania took over as the Chair and the ECI was unanimously elected as the Vice-Chair.
