Kutchi New Year is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon, known as Ashadhi bij or Ashadi Bij.
- This Hindu New Year is observed in the Kutch region in Gujarat.
- Ashadi Beej is mostly a traditional affair and is a celebration of rains.
- Ashadhi bij is an auspicious day for farming communities.
- The day is celebrated in North India especially in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and some other places.
- During Ashadhi Bij, farmers check the moisture in the atmosphere.
- It will help them to predict which crop would be the best in coming monsoon.
