Kutchi New Year is celebrated on the second day of Shukla Paksha or waxing phase of moon, known as Ashadhi bij or Ashadi Bij.

  • This Hindu New Year is observed in the Kutch region in Gujarat.
  • Ashadi Beej is mostly a traditional affair and is a celebration of rains.
  • Ashadhi bij is an auspicious day for farming communities.
  • The day is celebrated in North India especially in Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and some other places.
  • During Ashadhi Bij, farmers check the moisture in the atmosphere.
  • It will help them to predict which crop would be the best in coming monsoon.
