The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)’s National Institute for Medical Statistics, in partnership with Population Council, launched the National Data Quality Forum.

Aim

To improve the quality of health and demographic data in the country.

National Data Quality Forum

  • It is an integrated national-level platform that can help close the knowledge gap and boost policy formulations.
  • The National Data Quality Forum will integrate learnings from scientific and evidence-based initiatives and guide actions through conferences and periodic workshops.
  • Through data collection, the wealth of the country is translated into insights and eventually into policy through a layered process involving human and technological inputs.
  • The NDQF hopes to bring together stakeholders, matter experts, industry leaders, decision-makers, data scientists and analysts on a common platform to improve the quality of data that feeds into evidence-based decision making.
  • This platform would be guided by the direction provided by a high-level steering committee and operationalised with the help of a technical expert advisory group.

Quality Data Model

  • The Quality Data Model is a model of information.
  • It is a way to describe clinical concepts in a standardized format.
  • It helps individuals monitoring clinical performance and outcomes.
  • One can clearly and concisely communicate the necessary information.
  • The QDM now operates under the direction of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

National Quality Forum

The National Quality Forum (NQF) was created in 1999 by a coalition of public- and private-sector leaders after the President’s Advisory Commission on Consumer Protection and Quality in the Healthcare Industry.

An organization like NQF was needed to promote and ensure patient protections and healthcare quality through measurement and public reporting.
