World’s First CNG port terminal
Gujarat government has given its approval to the world’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) port terminal facility at Bhavnagar port.
Highlight
- The existing Bhavnagar port has a capacity to handle three MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum) cargo, and new terminals would take the overall capacity to nine MMTPA.
- The new facility will be developed on the Northern side of the present port, under which RoRo terminal, liquid terminal and container terminal will be developed in the future.
- The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) had signed an MoU with Foresight Group to set up this port terminal at Bhavnagar in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit held in January 2019.
