World's First CNG port terminal to be in Gujarat - Diligent IAS
Gujarat government has given its approval to the world’s first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) port terminal facility at Bhavnagar port.
Highlight
The existing Bhavnagar port has a capacity to handle three MMTPA (million metric tonnes per annum) cargo, and new terminals would take the overall capacity to nine MMTPA.
The new facility will be developed on the Northern side of the present port, under which RoRo terminal, liquid terminal and container terminal will be developed in the future.
The Gujarat Maritime Board (GMB) had signed an MoU with Foresight Group to set up this port terminal at Bhavnagar in the Vibrant Gujarat Summit held in January 2019.
